Words from the Hub 2 - Call out

WORDS FROM THE HUB 2 - EXTRA TASKS:

We are looking for Writers and Artists to submit up to 2 pieces of work, as we are lookingbto produce Words From The Hub 2, Extra Tasks: and Other Things.

When you submit up to 2 pieces of your work, please adhere to this, because if more are submitted you will be asked to re-select the 2 you want, then re-submit them.

We want to give everyone the chance to submit the same amount of writing.

We have correlated some Extra Tasks, but please remember, the selection below is a guideline.
  • The Village Bus;
  • Word Painting (describe a certain word by using alternate words);
  • Recycle, reuse, a new use for broken things;
  • I turned the corner and saw;
  • If a Haggis was a mythical creature what would it be;
  • It was handmade;
  • Write about nature / spring;
  • We’re going on a quest;
  • Write a letter to the paper;
  • It was a Daydream/Nightmare;
  • I broke every plate in the house;
  • Put a historical figure into modern times;
  • Story Cubes - use 3 to 5 cubes to create your story. Various sets available for use;
  • There was a crack in the egg;
  • If I could fly;
  • An adventure on a Cruise;
  • Flash Fiction - create a story using 10 / 25 / 50 / 100 words.
  • Poetry - anything we’ve covered in Group, i.e., Couplets, Limericks, Villanelle, etc.;
  • Short Story - maximum 500 words;
  • If the walls of the Hub could talk?

SUBMISSION DATES:
From: 8th April 2024
To: 20th May 2024

You will have 8 weeks to submit your work, unfortunately we are unable to accept any submissions after this date.

Words from the Hub 2 Book Launch

WOW! What a successful book launch yesterday😀📚✍️✍️.  We would like to thank everyone who made it so much fun!  Firstly to the Swindon Hub for use of the space and all the writers and artists who contributed to the book. Matt Holland from Swindon Festival of Literature , Swindon Artswords who was an ace compere, and Councillor Marina Eastcott who made a passionate speech. Our readers Gorrrdon, Elizabeth, Stuart, Sarah, Ross who all read their own work from the book and Penni who read a piece by M Spirit. Hub volunteer Nick helped with the sound system, and setting up the room.
