Words on Wednesday - 24th June 2026
Dear Writers,
We were sorry to cancel the group this week, the Hub made the correct decision to close due to the severe heat warnings, and their air conditioning had broken. Penni and I hope you are all staying safe, hydrated, and using sun cream and wearing hats when you are out. We are not used to the level of heat that's being generated over the past week, so please, stay safe.
Next week, Anna has kindly offered to take the group as Penni and I will be going to Sheffield on Tuesday to watch Def Leppard in concert, and we won't be home until 2am or 3am. Do you remember the dream jars we made in group? We wrote down our dreams on paper and placed them in the jars? One of the dreams in my jar was to see Def Leppard in concert. It's an amazing feeling that this dream is finally coming true, as I have thought about going to watch them since 1987. It doesn't feel real, I'm feeling happy, and overwhelmed all at the same time. Remember, you can make your dreams come true.
We are keeping the prompts the same for this week, so you don't miss out on Word Painting.

This is a very exciting evening, where you can sit back, relax, enjoy a drink and listen to a wonderful evening of verse with resident, and guest poets, plus open spots. Words on Whitworth
When: Friday 26th June
Time: 2.00pm to 7.00pm

This is a wonderful event for aspiring Artists, Poets, and Writers with amazing people who can help nurture your artistic gifts. There will be a lot of interactive events, Poet Peter Pod will be hosting an Open Mic session between 6pm-7pm allowing Poets and Flash Fiction Writers to share their work in a safe, and friendly environment. Zozo Thomas will be running Art Workshops inspired by words and letters. Author Judith Cranswick will be sharing insights into her life as a writer, and will also be running an interactive writing workshop.
Please remember you must reserve your FREE Entry Ticket due to the limited capacity. Refreshments are available for a small donation. There are a lot of wonderful interactive events detailed in the Artswords Newsletter below. You will also see further Dates for your Diary on the Poster.

WEDNESDAY 22ND JULY - Group will still be running, but our venue changes for this week only.
This week we will be going to the Town Gardens. Writing in nature is a wonderful, calming experience full of inspiration. Penni is kindly bringing some snacks, but you will need to supply your own water, soft drinks, and lunch. There is also a cafe in the Town Gardens as well. We'll be meeting up at the bandstand, but I will send out a separate email nearer the time, including Bus Stops, Routes, and Bus Numbers.
