Words on Wednesday - 12th August 2026
Dear Writers,
We were advised at the end of last week's session that Bruce who takes Tai Chi will not be in through the whole of August, therefore, next week's session on Wednesday 19th August - this will run for 2hours this will be from 10.30am to 12.30am.
Then, the following week on Wednesday 26th August - this will run for 1hour 30minutes this will be from 10.30am to 12pm.

Anna has asked us to put the word out regarding "The Big Clean Up" that's happening in Swindon. This sounds amazing, unfortunately, Penni and myself will not be able to attend, as it is a physical job. We are feeling sad about it, but hopefully you will be able to help out.

Please be aware that Artswords will be taking a break for the whole of August, and will return in September. Words on Wednesday would like to thank Matt and the team for organising such amazing events, and working so hard behind the scenes. We hope you enjoy your holidays, and we look forward to seeing you again in September.
Please note that we cannot confirm Artswords dates until we receive Artswords Newsletter on the 1st day of each month, so we really appreciate your patience. Just a reminder that the Artswords Writer's Kitchen and Artswords Writer's Cafe now cost £2 per session, but grants are available for those who cannot afford the costs.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE DIARY:
SWINDON OPEN STUDIOS - SEPTEMBER
This event is taking place across two consecutive weekends, and it's definitely dates for the diary:
WHEN: Saturday 19th to Sunday 20th September, and Saturday 26th to Sunday 27th September.
TIME: Most participating spaces open their doors between 11am and 5pm each day.
COST: FREE
WHERE: While many Creators exhibit from their own kitchen tables, and garden studios, several prominent local art hubs routinely co-ordinate major group displays for the event - for further information refer to the Booklet that's free to obtain from the Hub, Central Library, and the Wyvern Theatre (I know they are there, as we saw them yesterday). Anna may have a booklet she can give you, but she will definitely be able to tell you about it.
While many creators exhibit from their own kitchen tables and garden studios, several prominent local art hubs routinely co-ordinate major group displays for the event
Visitors will get a rare chance to see exactly where and how local art is made. You have the chance to buy original, affordable artwork directly from the creators without any gallery commission fees.
There will be diverse art styles featuring everything from Pottery, Glass Fusion, and Textiles, to Contemporary Paintings, Street Art, and Sculptures.

Poetry in the Pub
