Dear Writers,

Please note that we cannot confirm Artswords dates until we receive Artswords Newsletter on the 1st day of each month, so we really appreciate your patience. Just a reminder that the Artswords Writer's Kitchen and Artswords Writer's Cafe now cost £2 per session, but grants are available for those who cannot afford the costs.

Here's your weekly update:

This week's Extra Task:
Write a piece about your likes and dislikes for Christmas.

Sneaky peek at next Week's Tasks:
If I were: A Nobel Peace Prize Category.
Main Task: The Nobel Peace Prize - Alfred Nobel was an Inventor who created dynamite and other explosives, and was known for establishing the Nobel Peace Prize. Alfred Nobel created the Peace Prize out of a desire to recognise individuals who contribute to a better world, and specifically, to promote peace through the abolition of armies and the promotion of international understanding.

There are in fact two types of Nobel Peace Prizes, there's one for Peace and the other for the Nobel Peace Prize in Physiology and Medicine, which is awarded for scientific breakthroughs that benefit humanity. In 2023, the two scientists Katalina Kariko, and Drew Weissman were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for Physiology and Medicine, for their discoveries concerning nucleoside base modifications that enabled the development of effective mRNA vaccines. Their work was critical for the rapid development of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines. Their creations saved millions of lives globally.

Nobel Peace Prize Categories: Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Peace. Write a piece about what you would create to be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
