Words on Wednesday 5th November 2025

 Dear Writers,

Please note that we cannot confirm Artswords dates until we receive Artswords Newsletter on the 1st day of each month, so we really appreciate your patience.  Just a reminder that the Artswords Writer's Kitchen and Artswords Writer's Cafe now cost £2 per session, but grants are available for those who cannot afford the costs.

Here's your weekly update:

This week's Extra Task:
Write a piece about being part of the Mercury Theatre Company, run by Orson Welles, and your shocked response to the chaos you were partly responsible for.

Sneaky peek at next Week's Tasks:
If I were: A flower to represent Remembrance Day, what would you choose?
Main Task: Remembrance Day.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE DIARY:
Write Along Tuesday, (W.A.T) - Central Library, Downstairs
If you are free between 1pm to 2.30pm on a Tuesday, and you are in town, why not join Penni, (Co-Facilitator, Words on Wednesday), for a different style of writing group, by bringing along your own writing projects you are working on.

This is a wonderful time to write with others, rather than by yourself.  When writing with other people, you can garner ideas, and help with your writing if you feel stuck.  It can be better to write in a group rather than by yourself.

Another, very important date for the diary, even though we are jumping way ahead into next year:
SWINDON FESTIVAL OF LITERATURE - 4th to 10th MAY 2026 - more information nearer the time.

FIKA are putting on 2 Open Mics in November:
Sunday 9th November - 2.30pm
Go along to FIKA for a wonderful afternoon of Family Poetry at 4 Havelock Square, Swindon, SN1 1LE.
This is a wonderful event that encourages children to read out their Poetry they have written.  It can be a wonderful confidence boost for them.  This is an Open Mic for all ages.

Friday 14th November - 8pm
Open Mic hosted by Laura K - professional singer performing all over the South West and beyond.
Arrive early for pre-entertainment drinks and get your name on the VIP list for the Open Mic, enjoy FIKA Coffee & Wine evening at 4 Havelock Square, Swindon, SN1 1LE.  What a great way to start the weekend.

If you fancy a Coffee, Cake, Panini or a Sandwich, go along and support Martin and his wonderful team at FIKA.  Once a month Martin kindly puts on an Open Mic for Writers to come together, and read out their work.  Watch this space. . . We will add more details once we know when the next one will be held, but in the meantime check out FIKA.

FIKA COFFEE AND WINE (4.7* out of 5* - 40 reviews)
Happy writing everyone!

Regards,
Penni and Sarah
