Dear Writers,

Firstly, Penni and I would like to thank Anna (Peter Pod) for helping to type up the handwritten work for the Gallery Space, and Ellie for helping us mount everything onto different coloured cards and putting them together.  Without your help, it would've taken us a lot longer, so we thank you for your kindness, and giving your time.  The Hub has given us a lot of positive feedback, we've also placed pens and writing paper, and we've already had a piece written by someone.  This means that your work we have put up, is encouraging others to write.

Please note that we cannot confirm Artswords dates until we receive Artswords Newsletter on the 1st day of each month, so we really appreciate your patience.  Just a reminder that the Artswords Writer's Kitchen and Artswords Writer's Cafe now cost £2 per session, but grants are available for those who cannot afford the costs.

Here's your weekly update:

This week's Extra Task:
How would you feel having to ask the Commonwealth to help your Country.

Sneaky peek at next Week's Tasks:
If I were: If Spring had a scent, what would it be?
Main Task: Spring Equinox - 20th March at 2.46pm, this is the Astronomical Spring.  (You also have Meteorological Spring - A fixed three month period for easier climate tracking, for example, Spring is classed as March, April, May.  There's also Phenological Spring - This is based on nature, for example, flowers blooming, or animals emerging from hibernation, this varies by location and year.)  This Astronomical event marks the start of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere where the Sun crosses the celestial equator, equalling day and night lengths.  It's also referred to as the Vernal Equinox.  The Clocks go forward on Sunday 29th March.  Following the Equinox, the Northern Hemisphere tilts more towards the Sun, increasing daylight hours until the Summer Solstice in June.  TASK:  What does Spring mean to you?

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE DIARY:
Write Along Tuesday, (W.A.T) - Central Library, Downstairs
If you are free between 1pm to 2.30pm on a Tuesday, and you are in town, why not join Penni, (Co-Facilitator, Words on Wednesday), for a different style of writing group, by bringing along your own writing projects you are working on.

This is a wonderful time to write with others, rather than by yourself.  When writing with other people, you can garner ideas, and help with your writing if you feel stuck.  It can be better to write in a group rather than by yourself.

Next week we will be in February 2026, but it won't be long until we are in May - SWINDON FESTIVAL OF LITERATURE.  Make sure you put these dates in your diary: Monday 4th May to Sunday 10th May 2026 - we will provide more information nearer the time.

Happy writing everyone!

Regards,
Penni and Sarah
