Words on Wednesday - 4th March 2026

Apologies for the delay in sending out this email, but Penni and I have been working on getting all your gallery submissions ready to put up this Monday.  When you come into the Hub on Wednesday, you will be able to see your work on display.

Please note that we cannot confirm Artswords dates until we receive Artswords Newsletter on the 1st day of each month, so we really appreciate your patience.  Just a reminder that the Artswords Writer's Kitchen and Artswords Writer's Cafe now cost £2 per session, but grants are available for those who cannot afford the costs.

Here's your weekly update:

This week's Extra Task:
Try to locate other Women "Hidden in History" - if you are stuck, we have a board set up in the Gallery Space marked up as "Hidden in History" where you will find lots of names of women (as well as men's names who we will cover when it's International Men's Day - Men in Science), whose work has been forgotten and who have been "Hidden in History".

Sneaky peek at next Week's Tasks:
If I were: A Commonwealth Flag (I have printed out all 56 Countries' Flags there will be a sheet per table).
Main Task: Commonwealth Day - 61st Anniversary - Each year a theme is chosen, for example, in 2024 it was 'One Resilient Common Future' and in 2025 it was 'Together We Thrive' and 2026 it is 'Unlocking Opportunities Together For A Prosperous Commonwealth' - The Commonwealth's main purpose is to promote Peace and Prosperity - TASK: How would you go about making things better in a Country that needs lots of help, for example, helping a Country to grow food when the land is barren.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE DIARY:
Write Along Tuesday, (W.A.T) - Central Library, Downstairs
If you are free between 1pm to 2.30pm on a Tuesday, and you are in town, why not join Penni, (Co-Facilitator, Words on Wednesday), for a different style of writing group, by bringing along your own writing projects you are working on.

This is a wonderful time to write with others, rather than by yourself.  When writing with other people, you can garner ideas, and help with your writing if you feel stuck.  It can be better to write in a group rather than by yourself.

This will only be taking place until February half term, and after that if people are not attending it will be CANCELLED after this time.

Next week we will be in February 2026, but it won't be long until we are in May - SWINDON FESTIVAL OF LITERATURE.  Make sure you put these dates in your diary: Monday 4th May to Sunday 10th May 2026 - we will provide more information nearer the time.
